Död åt välfärdsstaten (Death to the welfare state) is a reflection on the country we know as Sweden – from Tage Erlander’s ‘folkhem’, to Olof Palme’s democratic socialism, to Fredrik Reinfeldt’s claims that Swedes have been taken to sleep by the welfare system, to today’s political discussion where concepts such as underclass and exclusion and Swedishness are hot topics. The show takes place on a farmhouse suspected of Orwell’s where all animals are equal, some just more equal than others.
