Join – the Rhythm of a Joint venture, 2017

Old-time dystopias, such as Orwell’s 1984, no longer apply. The totalitarianism of our time is business economics. It is not the state that threatens individuality and personal freedom. Instead, it is global corporations that capture, melt down and transform privacy, identity and consciousness. As with all fantasy, the authors have to show complete confidence in fiction, that it must not contain inconsistencies. This places great demands on the actors, who have to improvise as the audience / job aspirants’ questions can hardly be predicted. Among the valuable lessons is the paradox that global capitalism demands unique individual competences, while doing everything possible to erase true individuality and unique taste preferences. It is probably also characteristic of the times that serious social criticism must be packaged as play and games, and it is always just as unbelievable to see how the audience plays with without question, in social staging of authority functions. But that is exactly why “Join” is a really unpleasant and impressive thinking taste of the future – Björn Gunnarsson
